How to Track a Flight Live (by Flight Number, Airline or Airport)
Someone you love is in the air, and you want to know where they are right now. Or you are standing at the arrivals hall wondering if that "On time" on the screen is true. Live flight tracking answers both, and it takes less than a minute.
Here is how to do it on fly24, step by step.
1. If you have the flight number
The flight number is on the ticket or booking email. It looks like PK301, EK623 or 9P846: two characters for the airline, then a number.
- Open fly24.io on your phone or computer.
- Type the flight number in the search box at the top. Spaces don't matter, so "PK 301" works too.
- Tap the flight in the results. The map flies to the plane and opens its details.
You now see where the plane is, how high and how fast it is flying, the route from its departure airport to its destination, and the estimated time until it lands.
2. If you only know the airline and the city
No flight number? Open the airport instead. Search for the city, for example "Lahore" or "Dubai", and pick the airport. The Arrivals tab lists the planes flying towards it right now, each with its airline logo and expected landing time. Find the one coming from the right city.
Every major airport has its own page too, like Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE) or Dubai International (DXB), which you can bookmark.
3. If you have the aircraft registration
Plane spotters and aviation fans often know the registration painted on the plane, such as AP-BMV. Type it in the same search box and fly24 finds the aircraft if it is flying.
What you see on the flight panel
- Route: where the flight took off and where it is going, with a progress bar.
- Altitude: how high the plane is, in feet. Airliners usually cruise between 30,000 and 41,000 feet.
- Speed: ground speed in knots (1 knot is about 1.85 km/h).
- Aircraft: the model, such as an Airbus A320 or Boeing 777, often with a photo of the exact plane.
- Flown path: the line behind the plane, coloured by altitude.
Share it with family
The address in your browser changes when you open a flight. Copy it and send it on WhatsApp, and the other person opens the same flight on their own phone. No app or account is needed.
When a flight doesn't show up
A plane only appears once it is airborne or moving at the airport with its transponder on, and only where receivers on the ground can hear it. If you search too early, before boarding, try again after the scheduled departure time. Read why some flights are missing on flight trackers for the full story.
